Learning Tower / Torre de Aprendizaje

I’ve been looking for a device to allow Chloe to watch and help in the kitchen for quite a while. The ones they sell are very expensive, and the DIY version was almost as much! Keeping in mind that I wanted it to have adjustable height.

I got lucky the other day when I found one on eBay; the listing had ended without being sold so I made the owner an offer and we agreed!

So yesterday I picked it up, and when we got home Chloe helped me wipe it clean (she’d ask me to spray the non-toxic cleaner and she’d use her little rag). Which reminds me of the fact that one of her newest words is ‘sucio’ (dirty). She gets all flustered until she can wipe things!

Today we put it together; she thoroughly enjoyed putting the screws in the holes, and even tried the screwdriver but got frustrated 🙂

Once it was done I told her this was a tower for her to stand on. Her face lit up and she went around it looking for a way up. She couldn’t figure it out so she patted the platform to ask me to lift her up.

And she loved it! She ‘made’ some rice pudding (I took care of the cooking!) and had some yogurt on the counter. I am guilty of eating many of my meals standing at the counter so it’s only natural that she’d want to copy!

The only problem I can see is that the kitchen is not big enough for everything I’d like to fit in it, so we’ll need to be moving it around all the time and kicking it..
