Montessori Course / Curso Montessori (1/7)

We’ve joined a seven week Montessori course, to gather ideas of how to bring home some of her philosophy. Chloe and the other very young ones didn’t get to do much, but I learned a lot and enjoyed watching the older kids.
We talked about mobiles for babies, Montessori rooms, treasure baskets and heuristic play, and watched as one-year-olds washed their hands, chopped fruit, shared it, poured water and cleaned up afterwards!
My main take from the day, apart from ideas for mobiles and treasure baskets, is that we as parents don’t seem to be able to let our children be and explore in their own terms. I observed a lot of suggesting, directing, and “helping” – things that I hope to avoid as much as possible with Chloe.

  1. Loving these write-ups. So pleased you enjoy the course. I totally agree…taking a step back is very hard to do as a parent, but creating the right environment is key to being able to do this…just like Chloe’s bedroom!
